The District Institute of Arts (IDARTES) in Bogota, Colombia joined forces with the Bogota Planetarium recently to launch a science playroom, where children can get creative with Play-Doh and form planets, dinosaurs, or anything else they can imagine. The playroom introduces science to Colombian children in a fun and playful way. The room is equiped with several playsets and gets a supply of 10 000 units of modelling dough per year. UNAWE Colombia is a partner of the project and will give workshops about the Solar System and other space subjects to visiting children.
Enjoy the picture slide show below to get a taste of UNAWE Colombia's first workshop. This activity was organised to get children excited about science with the help of dinosaurs. During one day, each child moulded three different dinosaurs with Play-Doh, together creating an enormous Jurassic Park. The next workshops will focus on astronomy by introducing young participants to aliens, planets and stars!
