Telescopes4Teachers: A Telescope per Classroom
15 November 2012

There are many schools around the world without a single, simple telescope, but thanks to a new programme called Telescopes4Teachers this could soon change. With just a simple, small donation you can introduce the beauty and grandeur of the Universe to students through observations of the night sky with telescopes. Using these donations Telescopes4Teachers will send Galileoscope telescope kits to schools around the world.

The Galileoscope is a small lens-based telescope developed by a team of leading astronomers, optical engineers and science educators, making it the highest possible quality at the lowest possible cost. The telescope can be used in the classroom to investigate optics, like how lenses make images or outside as a tool for exploring the cosmos. It is specifically designed to be put together by students, so assembly takes just minutes and requires no tools at all.

With the support of Telescopes4Teachers students around the world can discover the cosmic wonders that Galileo Galilei first witnessed 400 years ago. Including lunar craters and mountains, Jupiter's four largest moons, Saturn’s rings, the phases of Venus and countless other wonders that are invisible to the unaided eye.

Galileo’s discoveries literally revolutionised our perception of the universe and Earth’s place in it. Make a small donation today and you can revolutionise the world for a new generation.
