Today, 20 November 2017, is the day where children celebrate their special day. This day gives special attention to saving children’s lives, fighting for children’s rights and helping them fulfil their potential. Special events will be organised all around the world for children and by children, with the aid of special resources from Unicef.
World Children’s Day is an initiative from Unicef, that empowers children and inspires them to take ownership of the world and their position in it. Unicef prepared World Children’s Day resources, like School Packs for children, a lesson plan for teachers, and a child-friendly version of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, to incite children to take over their schools.
We ask members from our community of educators to share their outreach and events, that are organised today in celebration of this day for the children of the world. However, you can organise World Children’s Day events everyday, by using Unicef’s lesson plan for Teachers, or by using UNAWE activities to inspire global citizenship. You can submit your experiences via our Activity report form and social media using the hashtag #unawe.
To follow World Children’s Day on social media, follow the hastags #WorldChildrensDay and #KidsTakeOverSchools and see children take over the world today!
