StixCamp Workshop on Open Standards in Science, Education, Technology and Culture
4 June 2015

StixCamp is a workshop, unconference-style, hosted in Portugal from 17 to 19 July 2015. The main aim of this workshop is to engage the local community in open science, education, technology and culture. This StixCamp will help break down the barriers to equitable participation in science, culture and technology often faced by those who live in less central locations. Plans and ideas to establish a long-term infrastructure in the regions, such as Open Centre for science, education, technology and culture, will be discussed.

Like UNAWE, StixCamp advocates open standards in Science, Education, Technology and Culture, for development. Open Standards are standards made available to the general public and are developed, approved and maintained via a collaborative and consensus-driven process. The development of Open Standards is a balanced, collaborative process, ensuring sufficient quality and on-going support. UNAWE promotes Open Standards by making their Educational Resources freely available to the public, both on the website and through worldwide distribution (e.g. Universe in a Box).

Date: 17-19 July 2015
Location: Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, Portugal.
There is no registration fee and there is a maximum of 50 participants. You can register here.

The workshop will be in English.
