The conference ‘Communicating Astronomy with the Public 2013’ (CAP2013) kicked off today at the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw, the capital of Poland and one of the cultural, political, economic and educational centres on Europe. The bi-annual conference will run from 14 to 18 October, during which the 200 participating members of the astronomy education and public outreach community will enjoy a range of workshop sessions, talks, unconferences, interactive planetarium shows and discussion, all focussed on tackling the challenges of communicating of astronomy and space exploration and the influence of these activities on science outreach an education.
Universe Awareness will play an active role throughout the five-day conference, sharing the fantastic work and achievements of our global network throughout the last year in a number of talks, discussions and posters. Many aspects of the UNAWE programme will be covered including presentations on our various astronomy educational resources, co-operation models, family science and astronomy outreach events and evaluation methods. The programme also includes a showing of the short UNAWE film children's film, ‘De Dromenkijker’ (The Dreamgazer). The full list of Universe Awareness talks and posters can be found below:
