The focus of the internship was to develop a production and distribution framework for a UNAWE product / resource concept called Universe in a Box—an activity kit developed by the House of Astronomy in Heidelberg, Germany (also EU-UNAWE, Germany), under the MINT Box program for STEM education, supported by a grant by the Baden-Württemberg Foundation. It has been designed to explain the difficult and sometimes abstract concepts of astronomy to young children (4 to 10 years) by providing practical activities as well as the materials and models required to do them. The resource has been in development since 2010 and in use since February 2011 and was ready for newer markets with similar needs. The target audience for Universe in a Box is schools / teachers, educators, and science and outreach centres from UNAWE’s Consortium and National Programme countries.
