Deadly Moons

Deirdre Kelleghan is an artist/astronomer with a passion for educational outreach and sharing the beauty of the Universe. She works with disadvantaged, rural, inner city and immigrant children in Ireland, conducting community based astronomy/art workshops.

Amongst other objects, she invites children to draw moons, not just our moon but many of the others that are circling the planets in the solar system. After viewing images of Io, Callisto, Atlas, Titan, Europa, Phobos, Enceladus, Hyperion etc.. many of the Irish children who have done these workshops considered the moons so awesome they were pronounced 'deadly'. The name has stuck.
